A cleaning lady told me I couldn't take pictures outside the Beenleigh marketplace.
"I'm not taking photos"
"Oh, so you've just got a camera?"
"It's a fashion accessory."

In a long overdue change of attitude, the UK police have explicitly said that taking pictures is allowed, and have issued instructions to officers stating as much.

There are very clear rules around how stop-and-search powers can be used. However, there are no powers prohibiting the taking of photographs, film or digital images in a public place. Therefore members of the public and press should not be prevented from doing so.

[...]

"We must acknowledge that citizen journalism is a feature of modern life and police officers are now photographed and filmed more than ever.

"However, unnecessarily restricting photography, whether from the casual tourist or professional is unacceptable and worse still, it undermines public confidence in the police service."

Good to hear.
Let's face it, photographers are a bunch of evil-doers hell bent on tearing down society. You can tell it's true by the way police around the world are always trying to stop us from taking photos.

In Philadelphia "officials have alerted police to men taking pictures on the Broad Street subway line in South Philadelphia."

"We are attempting to identify that male to determine what the nature or the reason for taking the photographs was," Chief Inspector Joseph Sullivan said.

Yeah!! Find him and find out why.
