Subject: forum javascript support blows
ok, so NFG didnt actually say, "well... it works with Opera" but it is something he thinks.

i dont know if the forum javascript bullshit works on IE or safari but it sure as hell doesnt work on firefox or chrome.  i click the button to add a bold tag or hell, any button for editing and it doesnt do shit.

yeah, yeah, i should talk to nfg about it, right?  here's what he had to say.

Mar 15 22:31:12 <NFGwork> I checked the care box and it's empty.  Sorry gravis.

i was hoping that perhaps he actually did something or just ANYTHING in the last to months but apparently it's too damn much to ask for support for anything but the assoteric Opera browser.

nothing like having websites that are written like shit/for specific browsers, to annoy people.

if you didnt get it, assoteric is a portmanteau.  yeah, break out that dictionary.

There are dozens of forums out there with half-assed GUI editors.  This one has worked on all browsers for YEARS, and so new ones come out and it breaks and I'm to do what?  Get the forum devs to rejigger the javas on a project that's nearly abandoned?

You don't like it, you fix it, and I'll implement your code.

Oh, and l2shiftkey.  =P

i'm glad you are proud of your IE6 support but times a be a changin' grandpa.  standards exist for a reason, so microsoft can break them and fuck everyone over.  oh wait, that's what they did here!  perhaps you should stick to using standards and let MS worry about their own non-complaint ass.

if you dont like my capitalization, you fix it. ;)

I didn't write the fucking thing, I'm not inclined to rewire its guts to serve a couple of bullshit browsers.  =P

Kinda on topic:
"In the previous Web Browser Grand Prix, Opera had a small lead on our winner Google Chrome when the results were broken down by category. This time around, Opera wrangles a massive victory, dominating in eight out of the fourteen categories. This makes Opera the hands down winner of Web Browser Grand Prix 2. Though Google Chrome holds a scant lead in points when taking all benchmarks into account, Opera easily wins the speed race and owns over half of the wins per category. Right now, the Norwegian browser-maker is the only outfit that can claim to have "the world's fastest browser."

It works fine in my Firefox 3.0.19 (I purposely didn't 'upgrade' to 3.5 because I find it user-unfriendly) and I'm doing this right now from Shitfari on that marginally-better-than-a-rock device iPhone.
In summary, shut up.

Subject: the plot thickens!
ok... so now i'm using the latest opera an guess what? buttons still dont work!

additionally, it's using the system theme for text on the buttons but the buttons are overriden like they are intended.  chrome doesnt have this problem but i think it completely ignores my system theme.

while opera is speedy and ok, i dont like the tabs over the forward and back buttons.  a HUGE problem is that the forward and back button dont have a "jump back to page X" when you right click!  i need that!  however, it's way more customizable than chrome which is nice.  i cant stand chrome's interface.

Subject: maaatloooock!
so i busted out IE6 (via WINE) and while it was buggy (thanks WINE. -_-) the buttons worked!  i went post my findings but it was all "do the captcha" so i said, "fuck that" and logged in.  guess what happened then? BUTTONS STOPPED WORKING!  it dawned on me, the theme, the theme was fucking it all up!  so, with the default theme, it works fine. with neo modern, not so much.

so, what the hell?  i'm betting some hardcoding fucked shit up.

the default theme sucks balls.

Tested and confirmed, NeoModern does indeed break the buttons.
Luckily I much prefer the default theme. Black is hard to read..

If you feel so strongly about it I would suggest taking it up with the person who coded this forum software
