Subject: The Queensland Floods
We've lived in Queensland for six years, five and a half of which have been drought-stricken, dry and entirely too hot. This summer it is basically endless rain, and the flooding north and south of us is making the news around the world.
Well, the water's coming our way now, there's flood watches all around, Toowoomba (A town an hour north) has been devastated and the water's coming our way. River level increases of up to 3.6 metres are expected by tomorrow. Our house is some 200m from the Brisbane River, and our entire neighborhood was underwater during the big floods of 1974.
I'm mentally planning my priority list of Important Shit in case I need to clear out. Computer, camera, clothes, paperwork, rare games, in that order.
Here's the 24 hour rainfall from 9am this morning:
That's us down in the red zone.
