Yup, that's me.  I was thinking of you recently, after the hillclimb last month.  How you been?

The five's still in one piece.  I had recently arranged to give it to a friend of mine, but my sister decided she'd rather keep it as a sort of reminder that all her closest family moved overseas on her.  She says she wants to get it insured and drive it again, so you may see it on the roads eventually.  Currently it's parked in her yard somewhere in Kelowna.

Welcome to NFGworld.  ^_^

Awesome dude.  I've been pretty good.  It's been so long since I've seen you I can't even remember when. Got two kids ...

I've imported a ton of weird little cars from Japan over the last few years that were never sold here.

If she decides she doesn't want it any more, I'd take it off her hands.  I still have yet to get my hands on an R5.  Also trying to find a Peugeot 205GTI.  I just got rid of a Starlet GT, what a ridiculous car.  :)

Are you still in Japan?

Not in Japan any longer, have been in Australia for six years.  Currently driving a Renault Sport Megane 225.  Blue, of course.

Also started riding bikes, picked up a Ducati Monster as a first motorbike.  Mid life crises are a lot of fun (and very loud).  =D

Have the import rules been relaxed, or are you bringing over cars to race?  Last time I checked it was nigh impossible to bring a car into Canada that wasn't designed for use there or in the US.

Kids!  Geez, you're some sort of adult now.  How's that feel?

Time certainly flies, I guess it has been that long!

Nice choice.  Certainly not something we can pick up locally for some years to come. French Racing Blah .... just kidding, one of my favs actually.

Yes, we can import just about anything over 15 years old.  Who knew ... that law was in place when you were still here, just no one was taking advantage of it.   It's a hassle, but not too bad.  I've had things like Skylines, Seras, Figaros and just about everything in between.

Much to the "delight (and some cases amusement) of my neighbors " I have up to a half a dozen oddball cars kicking around my yard.  Currently kicking my usual daily 996 as it broke down the other day and I'm waiting for some parts to arrive.

I rode a 696 on a Ducati test ride day last year (or maybe the year before), ironically it's actually on my shopping list of things to buy whenever I can find one used.  Just can't justify the cost of admission for a new one at the moment, so I have a CBR which gets me good gas mileage on the days I can actually use it.

As for being an adult, if you figure fighting with my 5 year old over who gets the controller (he likes Burnout Paradise, and I have a few thousand hours logged on Warhawk (something the wife doesn't find nearly as impressive as I do) and what "toon" to watch is being an adult, then I guess I'm there.

If you ever come home, we should get together, I can ply you with a bunch of beer and find that Renault so I can appropriate it.   heh

Well if we're honest with each other no one really wanted a 15 year old car when I still lived there.  There wasn't anything that old worth importing, except for collectors and weird old men.  Now, 15 years includes some really nice vehicles (which, I guess, makes us weird old men).

When I lived in Japan I had a brief fling with an MR-S, great fun to drive, but we bought it used and it had a crack in the hardtop that squeaked like a bitch.  It had been in an accident, poorly repaired, and wickedly impractical, so we ditched it after two months.

Don't talk to me about the cost of admission for a Ducati, the prices in Canada are WAY cheaper than here.  You pay a third to half what I would for a similar bike.  I mean, my 18 year old Monster (18!) cost me six grand, and that was after I talked 'em down a thousand bucks.  Still, it rumbles like a beast with the Termignoni pipes and damned if I don't feel like a king when I ride it.  =D

Heh, irony... I've had an MR-S (MR2 Spyder) for about 3 years now .. in fact I drove it to work today!  No hardtop though.  I took the spare tire out of the front and use that as the trunk.

I'll have to post a pic of the stuff in my driveway (and half the yard).  Might give you a chuckle.

... but I can still make room for the Renault!
