Subject: Japanese ads...
Japanese ads used to show URLs, then it was scannable QR codes with the URL.   Now they show a little text field, like on a web page, followed by a 'search' button, effectively inviting the viewer to find the business by searching for the company name or product.

I find this bizarre.  Presumably it's easier to remember AtamiTowers than Atami.co.jp/towers (though if I can remember one I can sure as shit remember the other) but I really can't shake the feeling that inviting customers to searchfor you is just asking for trouble.

What if their favourite search engine doesn't rank you very highly?  What if someone else, a competitor or prankster or scammer for example, poisons the search results and customers find them first?  What if the first result becomes a disgruntled customer hate site three days into the campaign?

I'm convinced this tactic is poorly thought out, and is probably pursued at the recommendation of SEO snake oil salesmen and marketing staff who don't fucking understand...  Well, anything more complicated than angry birds
