Subject: Crownland
The Atari 800 was a computer from the early 80s.  It was an astonishing machine for its day, with hardware that put it solidly in the lead for a while.  8 bits of raw brutal power, a whopping 48kilobytes, a cartridge slot and optionally a tape or disk drive.

Some nutty Europeans won't let it die, and I can't believe the things they're doing with it now.  It's perhaps a lot easier to make games like Crownland with modern tools and a large back-catalogue of ideas to draw from.  This game is far and away the most modern looking game I've seen for the system.

These shots are actual res.  The pixels really were that large.

Can't believe how good this looks, the backgrounds don't look anything at all like an Atari 800 game.

Great stuff!
