Subject: Recommended Music!
As part of my never-ending quest to deliver nothing but quality (and barring that, randomness) I hereby offer: stuff!

Korpiklaani, a Finnish metal band I recently discovered, needs to be heard.  How awesome are they?  Well, one member of the band plays a violin.  How can you beat that?  It'd only be better if there was a guy with bagpipes.

As a taster, try this instrumental track, Pellonpekko!

The puppeteer didn't much care for it, so here's another great track: Wooden Pints!

"So they raise their wooden pints
and they yoik and sing
and they fight and dance till the morning"

Haven't listened to it yet, sorry.

BUT! In terms of reccomendations of power metal bands I suggest,
Disarmonia Mundi

They rock. End of story.

Oh my god. And i thought you new your good music Hef!

I am in shock you called DM power metal. I though that by now, you knew they were MeloDeath, or something close (not boasting as genre expert myself) but power metal?

*shakes head* :(

I too though, would recommend DM as one of the best in their genre. Pure awesome! If you like melodic metal, with both heavy and clean vocals, you should love DM.

WHoops! Looks like Hef was out of it again....

I shall now recommend a REAL power metal band : Helloween. They are fun!

Is that better Josh?

if you want violin/fiddle try www.myspace.com/theholloways theyre an english indie band with catchy little melodies and so forth.

also Voicst, who are from Amsterdam, are quite decent. All in english very similar to most alternative/indie bands today.

Agreed, she has an incredible voice..but anything beyond the first album and various singles released before signing on (Sony I think) is really not worth much.
I saw her live a couple of times in the early days and it was a great show, funny songs and a cute girl in a little summer dress throwing vocal hissy fits on stage...*sigh*
Then saw her again a little while after signing on, still great voice..that's about all there was to it sadly..

Subject: My New Favourite: Equilibrium - Unbesiegt
Outrider introduced me to this song yesterday, and it's the best thing I've ever heard.  Like Cradle of Filth it has vocals I can do without, but the music is so compelling I cannot refuse its hold on me.  This is the best song I've ever heard, as of right now.

Give it a listen!

I just love it.  I feel like soaring between mountain peaks at absurd speeds when I listen to it.  Fuck yeah!
