That's the OLD video.  The new one's even more alarming - it slips and falls to its knees on ice, and still keeps going.  Incredible, really, but I'm not scared: Sling a garrotte around its knees and it's history.  Just like on Hoth, baby.

its pretty cool, and unnerving, but ultimately..while its still makes that incredibly irritating buzzing noise its not a threat to anyone, or even useful as a army mule, the stats are just not quite up to scratch.
BigDog runs at 4 mph, climbs slopes up to 35 degrees, walks across rubble, and carries a 340 lb load.
the potential is there though, i can see some pretty interesting machines coming from this research in the future, though sadly i believe that the first commercially available machine i very likely to be a walking chair, making our society even lazier..

I see this more as an infantry accompaniment: Guys on the ground can haul around heavy gear if they bring a mule or six.  And won't the enemy freak out when these infantry start assembling a massive howitzer.  "How'd they carry that thing!?"

I think the bonus stage may be accessed when you send these things into a nuclear zone and can program them to join together to make The Mega Zord. Then there'll be problems.
