My dad's got the D300, so I've spent a lot of time with it. It's a great camera: solid metal, high speed, loaded with buttons, features, and qualty. The D700 is all that plus the larger sensor anda few other tweaks.
It's a bit technical, but there are three reaons the larger sensor is important to me:
- Large sensor means less densely-packed pixels, which increases overall image quality
- There's a lot of math, but the larger sensor means a wider field of view: perfect for parkour.
- Better bokeh: larger sensors get more blurring on things not in focus, which is good.
Add to that the speed (5-8fps) and the result is: $3k towards the new camera is money well spent!
Now, the new rate scheme for jams is as follows:
NFG pulls out the camera: Five bucks.
NFG thinks about taking your picture: two bucks.
NFG takes your picture: five bucks.
You like the picture: five bucks.
You want a copy of the picture: five bucks.
