Subject: BattleStar Galactica, Season 4
So after giving up on BSG when Season 2 started to show signs that the writers were still in shock that there WAS a season two and rambled their way from episode to episode, I got back into it for Season 3.
Wow, how awesome is this show? It started off strong and just kept getting better. Really very incredible TV.
Right up until Season 4, Episode 12.
Throughout the entire series the writers have made a habit of writing their characters into situations way outside what the viewers have come to expect. Rational people become irrational, the stong become weak, the lovers become haters... For just long enough to advance the plot, and then they're back to normal. It's really annoying, but never moreson than S4E12.
I'm so pissed off at everything that happened this episode. Nearly every person threw away their integrity for a short-term goal, pursuing some ideal as if there were any point to it at all. The writers of this show expect us to believe that a convoy, pursued by a powerful enemy, would revolt? Where do they plan to go? They're fucking lost!
It's so aggravating, there are no realistic actions here, just bad writing, digging holes and flinging shit 'cause they need to advance the plot and didn't plan far enough ahead. How else can you explain characters that have massive personality changes for no good reason?
Consistency, you fuckers, have you heard of it?
