What's a 'picture and fax' wizard?  When I plug my iphone in I get the regular file browser.  It treats it as a camera, so there are limitations, but I can still view, select and copy/move files from the explorer window.

I'm talking on Windows itself. When I plug mine in, sometimes the phone will appear, but it won't let me do jack shit with it and looking online appears I'm not the only one that has this problem.
Also, without fail, when syncing and there are files to go on it, the first file in the status bar on mine will always be labelled 1 of 1, then the next file will be correctly labelled 2 of 4, 3 of 4, 4 of 4. Buggy crap.

Subject: More iTunes drama...
The day we leave for a month in Japan iTunes nuked all my music from my iPhone.  I didn't notice until we were over the ocean.  No problem, I thought: I'll add some when I get to Japan.  Well, I synced the iPhone with the laptop today, after uploading a stack of music from my PC in Australia.  Now I have a dozen music tracks on the phone, but iTunes nuked all the videos I added before leaving.

What the fuck, seriously.  I can't fathom this software at all.  If I say 'don't sync' I expect it to leave the shit alone, but I have a sneaking suspicion in Apple Land unchecking that box means 'nuke and pave'.  I have another package that will handle sync details for music and videos, but it won't do apps.  So I need iTunes for Apps, fair enough.  Asking iTunes to ONLY do apps doesn't seem possible, 'cause asking it to leave other content alone means it nukes them all.

And here's the fun part: if iTunes isn't handling music for your iPhone, no other software can add music at all! 

If I ever met Steve Jobs I'd grab his turtleneck and strangle him till he died.


EDIT: WHAT THE FUCK.

That sync also deleted Stanza, a book-reading app (awesome, highly recommended and free) from my iphone.  I asked iTunes to download it again and it says "You've already downloaded this."  Why the fuck did it get deleted then!?  I sync again, and it reappears.

Unbelievably shitty software.

i guess it's not feeling so good to give in to apple products anymore.

please note that i own a 3g(?) ipod but use my own (linux) software because itunes sucks and is malware (though it does work with WINE). :-D
