Subject: Pinball Technique
I'd always meant to type up the fantastic pinball techniques Kaze printed in their guidebook for Last Gladiators and Necronomicon pinball.  I never got around to it, but now Bexide/Kaze's got them on their site.  These techniques are pretty basic, and I'm sure anyone who's played a pinball game has figured them out already, but whatever - here they are.  =D

Control the Ball
You can control the ball by using the flipper at different times.

Holding
By holding the flipper button, you can catch and hold the ball.
This can make it easier to control the ball when it's released.

Double Flip
New players often hit both flippers at once.
This creates a larger aperture for the ball to slip through.

Beat Down
Don't hold your flippers up unnecessarily.
You may accidentally launch the ball into the bottom of the other flipper.

Dead Flipper Bounce
Sometimes you can benefit from inaction.
A ball can be brought to the favoured side after hitting a 'dead flipper'.

Holding Lift
Sometimes you can launch the ball up a lane by holding the flipper.

Return Lane Transfer
A fast moving ball can be brought to the favoured side if the flipper's held up.

Pass Flip
A flipper covers more of the drain mid-way through its arc.
With good timing, you can nudge the ball back towards the other flipper.

Reverse Pass Flip
If your Pass Flip fails, you may be able to salvage the ball
with a Reverse Pass Flip.

Deflect Pass
The easy action might be best: hold one flipper up, and
the ball could bounce to the other.

Touch and Down
This advanced technique allows you to catch the ball, dropping the flipper
and slowing the ball, then rolling it off the tip and up the other side.

Pinball is fast, and most people are slow. I'd imagine that one of the reasons video games (and by extension, pinball games) aren't more popular is because most people see the interactivity as wholly random. Quick reflexes used to be the sole purview of soldiers and thieves. I'm sure that for a lot of people, Kaze's guide uncovers what they perceive as great subtlety.
