Subject: Inspiration Photos
Some photos I found that give me ideas.

I think there's a lot of mucking about with the light on this one, a lot of this image was done after the photo was taken.  The illumination is strange in places, but the overall image is quite compelling.

I like this one 'cause of the sheer artistry.  The tone of the beads perfectly match the model's skin.  They look as if they were made for her.

I love the lighting on this.  If i were to guess: huge softbox camera left, lighting up her face, and a very bright light camera right, behind the model to light up the hair.  A small light below left as well, which is what gives us the boob outline.  It's the smooth light on the face I want to duplicate.

This one is very attractive and not just because of the naked redhead.  I'm attracted to the angle and the selective focus.  I think I'd like to try this one.

Honestly, there's not too many people who wouldn't like to try that one there NFG...


But I do find the shots particularly interesting.

Subject: Lingerie Photos
So I've got a lingerie shoot coming up and I figured I should gather some ideas.  There are worse ways to spend an afternoon than scouring the tubes looking for pics of sexily clad women, I assure you.

So here we are, this is what I found.  They're not all great shots, they're not all lingerie, but I figure each will give me just a little bit more of a direction to follow.

This should be a really fun shoot (which you may have already done... I'm not sure), and there's loads of stuff you could try.

I think what really stands out to me in those shots is how you have to decide on what the focus is. Usually I think it's finding one particular thing to emphasise, eg, boobs, ass or legs, and making sure to do just that. Trying to make everything look like the focus at once just sends things over the top and can end up looking skanky instead of sexy. I guess you can decide that on the day based on your model and what she's wearing.

Also getting shots that create that really feminine look, with loads of soft curves is good.

This is a pretty good example of everything I like about photography.  It strikes me as an image where everything has gone right, with the light, the capture, the model, the pose.  The whole composition just works for me.

It reminds me that a successful photo - while entirely subjective and a result of not just the photographer's actions but the viewer's history as well - doesn't have to be anything in particular.  There are no rules.

I like it because it makes me think that I can keep on making photos that I like, and that's success enough.

Now I just need to start making photos I like.  =)
