All About Assault Suits
This is from the NFG book sequel I started writing. I’m really proud of a lot of the stuff I did for it, but I burned out before finishing it. Here’s the part about Assault Suits! My apologies about the size, you can click on each page for a version you can zoom in on […]
Rediscovering the Sega/JVC WonderMega
I love the WonderMega. Its auto-raising lid and oversized LEDs, the karaoke functionality and MIDI port and S-video output make it the HiSaturn Navi of the 16-bit age. While tearing it apart for an upcoming recap job, I noticed some stuff.
Rediscovering: Koro Koro Post Nin
This easy and short Cameltry-em-up was released late in the Playstation’s life, and it’s easy to think it’s just a half baked game. And you’d be right! But it’s very cute.
Rediscovering: Hagane
Hagane is a weird game. When it was new, I had a copy and I thought it was staggeringly cool. It couldn’t be more Japanese if it crammed wasabi down your throat, and it was so fucking difficult that’s more or less what it felt like to play it.
PSP Launch Review
This is a re-post from 16th December, 2004 – 20 years ago, when the PSP was launched. I’d stood in line for mine, played it once, and flipped it online rather than be stuck with – as you’ll see – a system I didn’t like much. I bought another one soon after, for reasons that […]
Old Post: Ai Cho Aniki
While preparing a this review, back in the 90s, someone said to me “Its just called LOVE SUPER BROTHER, and it has semi naked man flying around, doing gay gestures. No way its a gay game, oh no.” You definitely want to read more.
Rediscovering: Plok
Plok! was a Super NES game that didn’t make much of a splash when it was released in 1993. But how did it fare in 2012? This repost of a lost forum review will tell all!
Rediscovering: Override
This little 2mbit shooter from St!ng, for the PC Engine, was made from pure enthusiasm. It’s not sophisticated or overly polished, but it’s solid and great fun.
Rediscovering: Sutte Hakkun
Another SuperNES platform game in the Rediscovering series. This time, it’s Sutte Hakkun (すってはっくん), a Japanese puzzle game originally released for the Satellaview satellite add-on, and much later as a retail cartridge in 1999, the year of the Dreamcast.
Rediscovering: Magical Hats
Back in 1989 I had imported a MegaDrive just before the Genesis launched, and got to experience the magic, or rather, the boatload of suck, that was the early 16 bit library.
